Somatic Movement

Agne has been working on various performance-making, interpretative dance, and site-specific projects since 2002 in Lithuania, Denmark, and the UK.  Alongside community projects and workshops, Agne has also focused on her endeavors such as developing a creative practice.  'For the past four years I have been focusing on developing my creative-movement practice 'Deep Dance' enabling methodology to assist participants in finding different ways to connect with our inner authenticity. Being part of 'The Year of Making' artistic residency at Spaceclarence Mews, my constant goal was to find key elements of how we listen to our bodies and see what information resurfaces. Dance is one of the key components how reconnecting with our bodies, however, the somatic practice has been a huge inspiration providing certain creative tasks I have developed and will be using during the sessions with my participants'.

'Since I started running somatic movement workshops at Good Hotel London in Feb 2023, it has been a very valuable shift in how I run these sessions. After numerous conversations with my participants and trying different ways to inspire everyone to explore their bodies and minds and simply enjoy the process, I have discovered new things that emerged while running these workshops. I have constantly looked for new ways to encourage everyone to enjoy dance from a different angle, to allow themselves to roll on the floor like they used to when they were children, and to see what sensations that might bring to the surface. I am learning that authenticity doesn't begin or end, it is a constant living organism and we simply need to learn how to access it. We can be authentic in so many forms and with different people various authenticity occurs, i think what I am after the focus of these workshops are 'how do you stay present, how do you access your heart, how do you create a hub and can come back to it every time you awaken your desire to be in that place, the most important thing is doing it without judgment. What I admire about my lovely participants is that there's an open dialogue is constantly happening, and it feels very warm and cozy every time you see that happening'.

These sessions are for anyone who would like to get to know their bodies better and have the time to enjoy silence and pause. Without any rush and judgment, enjoy the playfulness of their curiosity and dive into an exploration of their dance.
